WOKIKE: How Garissa Built Its Own Solutions

In Garissa, real change started with the community. This short documentary by WOKIKE, a member of the ASAL Humanitarian Network (AHN), shows how local people identified their own problems—and came up with their own solutions—using the Survivor and Community-Led Response (SCLR) approach. With support from CDP (Center for Disaster Philanthropy), and through AHN and Oxfam, the community turned small ideas into real impact: Built water troughs to separate water for humans and animals Constructed pit latrines for the community and a nearby school Planted tree seedlings at Afweine Primary School to green the environment And shared their journey through the voices of teachers, elders, and local leaders This is what happens when people are trusted to lead their own recovery.
