DFAT 2: After the Drought They Planted After the Flood They Rebuilt

In Garissa and Tana River, Kenya, communities have faced the harshest effects of climate change prolonged droughts followed by flash floods. But beyond the devastation lies a powerful story of resilience. This video documents how families are reclaiming their lives through simple but life-changing interventions: growing food in kitchen gardens, milking goats, building toilets, and accessing clean water through school-based tanks. Others have received essential items to help restore dignity after crisis. The project is supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership, and implemented by Pastoralist Girls Initiative, ASAL Humanitarian Network, Oxfam Australia, and Oxfam Kenya.
