An Open-Source 3D Printed Prosthetic Leg That Grows With Its User

A 3D printed prosthetic leg concept that resizes as the child grows — printable on a desktop 3D printer, and completely free and open source. ⚠️ IMPORTANT — THIS IS A CONCEPT, NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE This design is an experimental concept, shared for educational and developmental purposes only. It is not a substitute for professionally fitted prosthetic care. — A prosthetic can cost thousands of dollars, and for a child that cost repeats every time they outgrow it. For a lot of families, that puts it out of reach. This is our attempt at an alternative: an adjustable, low-cost, fully 3D printed prosthetic leg concept designed to grow with its user instead of being outgrown. • Three sizes — child, junior, and adult — and within each, the shin length adjusts • Built around a steel screw that carries the load, with a shin printed in stiff carbon-fiber nylon: light, but tough • A flexible TPU socket laced with a cable-and-dial system that molds evenly to almost any limb shape and tightens or loosens in seconds • A dynamically responsive foot that flexes with every step, swappable for a different size or stiffness anytime EVERYTHING IS OPEN SOURCE Every CAD file, the full bill of materials with part numbers, print and slicer settings, illustrated step-by-step assembly, and build videos — all free, so anyone can learn from it, improve it, or build upon it. 📐 Full build guide, BOM & CAD https://incept3dlabs.com/projects/pro... 🖨️ Print files (MakerWorld) Child → https://makerworld.com/en/models/1594...
