Ms. Q. recently attempted to enter the courthouse in Linz with her dog for a private matter but was turned away because, according to the house rules, dogs are not permitted inside. Only after several phone calls was she finally allowed entry with her dog. The court's house rules have since been amended accordingly. People repeatedly report difficulties entering public facilities with so-called assistance dogs. Ombudsman Gaby Schwarz has taken this as an opportunity to inquire why there is still no uniform regulation across Austria. Ms. Q. No Lake Access Ms. H. had previously contacted the Ombudsman's Office. At that time, the pensioner, who has mobility issues, complained that it was particularly difficult for her to access the Amalienbad public swimming pool in Vienna's Favoriten district. This problem has since been resolved, but now Ms. H. wants to move to the Seestadt district in Aspern, as it is supposedly designed to be fully accessible. Ms. H. would also like to swim in the lake there. However, there is a problem: There is no accessible access to the lake, and so far, the City of Vienna has made no effort to change this. Ms. H. has now contacted the Ombudsman's Office because she refuses to accept that it is impossible for people with disabilities to swim in the lake there. Love Scammer Ms. S. matches with a man on Tinder. He claims to be a Swede living in Italy and suggests they also communicate outside of Tinder. They text, WhatsApp, and talk on the phone for weeks. The supposed civil engineer calls her every evening and texts her every morning – he's her dream man. But then there's an accident involving a crane. The "dream man" writes that he has to pay for the damage. It's a lot of money: tens of thousands of euros. He claims to have most of it; only 15,000 euros are missing. He asks her to send him the money. The smitten Ms. S. is ready to do so. At the last second, a friend stops her. Now Ms. S. wants to expose the scam. A "citizens' advocate" is helping her along the way.
