От C++ к Rust: Ускоряем визуализацию данных с помощью «бесстрашной» конкурентности. Денис Залетаев

From C++ to Rust: Accelerating Data Visualization with "Fearless" Concurrency Denis Zaletaev Cognito When popular algorithms like UMAP and t-SNE struggle to handle large datasets, NCVis emerges as a promising alternative with one problem: its reference implementation is written in C++ with opaque parallelism via OpenMP. This talk will explore a complete rethinking of this algorithm in Rust: from reading a scientific paper to creating a production-ready library that runs faster than the original. You'll learn how the deliberate use of unsafe in a lock-free strategy helped achieve better scaling than in C++, and why explicit concurrency management in Rust proved key to architectural improvements. Finally, a look into the future will explore how the CubeCL framework can bring the algorithm to GPU acceleration levels and the architectural challenges that lie in the way.
