One of England's Most Underrated Railways? Carlisle to Newcastle
Join me as I explore one of England's most historic and scenic railway routes - the Tyne Valley Line between Carlisle and Newcastle! Travelling aboard a Northern Class 158, we follow the beautiful valleys of the River Eden and River Tyne, uncovering the fascinating history of a railway that first opened in the 1830s. Along the way we stop at characterful stations including Wetheral, Haltwhistle and Hexham, cross the magnificent Wetheral Viaduct, discover links with Hadrian's Wall, and finish with a spectacular run across the King Edward VII Bridge into Newcastle. From preserved Victorian station buildings and traditional signalling to stunning evening scenery across Cumbria and Northumberland, this 61-mile journey is one of the most rewarding regional railway adventures anywhere in England! As always, thank you to everyone who supports the channel, I really appreciate it
