[Anchor] Acupuncture is one of the main treatments in Oriental medicine. Research has shown that acupuncture, in particular, is highly effective for lumbar disc herniation. [Reporter] Acupuncture needles, with a flat, blade-like tip, are specialized needles that stimulate fibrous or hardened tissues around the spine, facet joints, and nerve roots. While research has shown that acupuncture is effective for lumbar disc herniation, also known as lumbar disc herniation, there have been no studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of acupuncture. Professor Kim Young-il's team at Daejeon University Dunsan Oriental Medicine Hospital has revealed that acupuncture is highly effective in reducing pain and improving functional impairment caused by lumbar disc herniation. A clinical trial comparing the two treatments revealed that pain relief was significantly faster with acupuncture. The research team confirmed that acupuncture was more effective than conventional acupuncture when treating 50 patients with lumbar disc herniation. Patients who received acupuncture four times over two weeks experienced significantly greater improvements in pain and functional disability than those who received conventional acupuncture six times over the same period. This improvement increased with repeated acupuncture treatments, and continued to increase after two weeks.
