This brutal murder of an adult by children took place last summer in the Avtozavodsky district. The 15-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl asked Alexander Zvezdin for a cigarette. He refused, and the two of them beat him for 20 minutes. They beat him so badly that he was disfigured beyond recognition—his head and face were smashed, and the only way to identify the deceased was by his teeth. The boy had previously been an athlete, successfully practicing sambo, but he quit and by the age of 15 had developed an alcohol addiction, for which his parents tried to treat him. The 13-year-old girl, as a minor, was exempt from criminal liability; after the murder, she was simply sent to a special school. The 15-year-old teenager was tried and sentenced today.
