Manthoka Waterfall & Chocolate Rocks | Beauty of Skardu Pakistan

Manthokha Waterfall, also spelled Manthoka Waterfall, is one of the most beautiful natural attractions in the Kharmang Valley near Skardu, in the breathtaking region of Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan. Standing at approximately 180 feet (55 meters) high, the waterfall is located around 80 kilometres (50 miles) from Skardu, the largest city in Gilgit-Baltistan. Surrounded by lush greenery and dramatic mountains, it offers a peaceful and refreshing escape for visitors. Chocolate Rock gets its name because it looks like a giant slab of rich chocolate resting among the mountains. Its smooth, dark-brown surface creates a striking contrast against the rugged rocky landscape and vibrant green valleys around it. Although it is not actually made of chocolate, its unique coloure and texture make it appear like nature’s very own chocolate bar. The rock was formed through ancient volcanic activity. Over time, molten lava cooled and hardened into the smooth, dark surface seen today. Years of erosion and weathering further shaped the rock, giving it its distinctive appearance and sparking the imagination of everyone who visits this fascinating natural wonder.
