However, lifting is most effective when it directly counteracts gravity and generates a force. Many people lift and lower their heels to exercise their calves, but if their pelvis and torso are out of alignment with their calves, they can end up thicker. To counteract gravity, the torso and pelvis expand forward and backward, and the ankles point toward the ground. This force then elevates the pelvic floor, creating anti-gravity forces.
