Bibbulmun Track - day 02

Rainy night at Ball Creek, we packed the tent away wet and had a gentle start to the day with our new friend Rhea, leaving camp at about 8am. Lovely meandering trail through bushland and occasionally along vehicle access tracks but all very pleasant. Passed a couple of pine plantations. We got to Helena around 11am, and had snacks. A beautiful new build shelter, but too early in the day to stay there so onward we went. Serious elevation across ridges out of Helena, then to a bridge across a river where we had lunch. More ridge climbing post, and we saw a beautiful native red breasted robin (I think!) halfway up a long climb which buoyed us. A short descent over the top of a ridge was the last leg into Waalegh campsite, where we made preparations to stay in the shelter and dry out the tent / ground sheet. Rhea did eventually arrive as expected, but just after sunset, 5:45-ish. She missed a turnoff and went a considerable distance in the wrong direction (soz Rhea!) 🙂 All in all a pretty great day 2, quite sore of shoulder and foot because we were still carrying 9 days of food today, but it should get easier from here.
