Ep 01 | Munda Biddi at 65 - Mundaring to Carinya Hut
Episode 01 of Solo at 65 - The Munda Biddi Journey. I begin my ride at the Northern Terminus in Mundaring, taking on what’s widely considered the toughest section of the Munda Biddi Trail. The early terrain is steep, loose, and unforgiving - and with a fully loaded bike and limited off-road experience, this first day was far harder than I expected. Much of the day became hike-a-bike as reality set in. Fatigue, self-doubt, and the weight of what I’d committed to all surfaced early. For safety, I didn’t film the most difficult singletrack sections. After 9.5 long hours on the trail, I finally arrived at Carinya Hut - tired, spent, but deeply moved by the warm welcome from fellow riders. That sense of encouragement would become a powerful motivator throughout the journey. This episode captures the honest beginning of a solo, self-supported ride across the Munda Biddi - and the moment I truly understood what I’d taken on. Music: Gavin Luke - via Epidemic Sound
