Justiça mantém preso motorista acusado de provocar tragédia que matou família em SP

The court converted the arrest of driver Gabriel Lima da Silva into preventive detention after he caused a fatal accident on the Castelo Branco highway in Osasco (SP). The incident resulted in the death of Eleandro and his family: Luana Carrilho and her 5-year-old daughter, Ana Luiza. They were returning home when their car was hit from behind by the vehicle driven by Gabriel. The accident occurred last weekend while the family was returning from the interior of São Paulo state to the ABC Paulista region. Witnesses reported that Gabriel was driving dangerously and refused to take a breathalyzer test despite evident signs of intoxication observed by the police. A can of beer was found in his car. Firefighters were quickly called, but were unable to save the victims due to the intense flames that consumed the vehicle after the impact. The tragedy shocked friends and family of the victims on social media. Gabriel had previously been taken to the Forensic Medical Institute on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. This time, he was arrested in flagrante delicto for manslaughter. However, there are questions about his prior record suggesting intent due to repeated risky driving behavior.
