01 Simple Currency Conversion in Excel GBP to USD

In this video, we'll create a simple currency converter in Excel by converting a list of product prices from British Pounds (GBP) to US Dollars (USD). Along the way you'll learn some of the most important Excel techniques for working with formulas. We'll see why copied formulas sometimes give the wrong answer, fix the problem using absolute cell references, and then make the formula even easier to read by using a named range. We'll also format our values using the Accounting number format, look at why decimal places can cause calculation errors, and use the ROUNDUP function to ensure our totals are accurate. Finally, we'll hide and unhide columns to make the finished worksheet easier to read. This is the first video in a series covering currency conversion techniques in Excel and Power BI, from simple conversions through to live exchange rates and automated reporting.
