After going through two hip surgeries in less than a year, one of the questions I'm asked most often is: "What exercises helped you recover?" In this video, I'm sharing the 5 physio exercises that made the biggest difference during the first five months of my recovery from Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI) and hip labral tear surgery. These exercises helped me progress from walking on crutches after surgery to rebuilding my strength, mobility, balance and confidence as I work towards returning to triathlon. ⚠️ Please remember that I'm not a physiotherapist or medical professional. Every recovery journey is different, so always follow the advice of your surgeon and physiotherapist. These are simply the exercises that I personally found most beneficial throughout my recovery. In this video I cover: 👉 00:00 Introduction 👉 01:53 Exercise #1 – Quad Extension 👉 03:42 Exercise #2 – Hip Flexor Strengthening 👉 05:32 Exercise #3 – Resisted Multi-Directional Movement 👉 07:17 Exercise #4 – Dynamic Lunge 👉 08:54 Exercise #5 – Agility Training 👉 11:29 Closing Thoughts If you're recovering from hip arthroscopy, FAI surgery, or a hip labral tear, I hope this video gives you some ideas to discuss with your physio and, most importantly, some encouragement that progress is possible!
