Game Info --------------------------------------------------- Developer: Sammy Publisher: Sammy Year of Release: 1991 Game Review & Impressions --------------------------------------------------- Also known as Gun-Dec in Japan, Vice: Project Doom is slickly-produced side-scrolling run 'n' gun platformer with a plot that's borderline unfathomable. It's a tale of clandestine corporations, bio-engineering and cloning, wrapped in a layer of detective thriller mystery that's often difficult to comprehend. Ever-so-slightly wacky story aside, the game is definitely worth checking out. There are plenty of levels for players to get stuck into, including occasional vertical shoot 'em up and on-rails shooting sections that serve to add some variety to overall ensemble. The bulk of the game is comprised of side-ways scrolling platform sections where the player, a detective or secret agent-style character, must traverse hazardous environments, despatching enemies with a variety of weapons that include a gun with strangely limited range, grenades, and a weird energy sword/light sabre device that's probably too powerful for its own good. With it's excellent graphics, solid gameplay and production values, Vice: Project Doom is well worth checking out.
