Misstress Barbara for Meganite party at Privilege - Ibiza 7/7/2004 - Techno Music
Misstress Barbara for Meganite party at Privilege - Ibiza 7/7/2004 - Dj Set. Techno Music. ask Seb is an independent, non-profit archive dedicated to underground electronic music. I document sound before it disappears. I preserve context in a time of noise. I save the culture not just the music. If it needs to be louder, it needs to be preserved. Misstress Barbara is the stage name of Italian-born Canadian DJ, producer, singer-songwriter and label owner Barbara Bonfiglio, born in Catania, Italy, in 1975 and raised in Montréal, Canada, after moving there with her family at the age of eight. She developed a passion for music at an early age, first playing drums and later performing in heavy metal bands before becoming interested in electronic music in the mid-1990s. In 1996, she began her professional career as a DJ, quickly gaining recognition for her energetic techno sets a quickly become an international DJ. In 1999, she founded Relentless, her own record label, which was renamed Iturnem in 2003 following a legal dispute over the original name. In 2009, Misstress Barbara expanded her artistic career with the release of I'm No Human, her first artist album as a singer-songwriter. Unlike her earlier techno productions, the album incorporated electronic pop, rock and songwriting influences while featuring her own vocals. She continued this direction with Many Shades of Grey (2012), before later returning to techno production while maintaining both aspects of her musical career. Alongside her work as a DJ and producer, she has composed music for films, television, advertising and video games, further expanding her activity beyond the club environment. Still active today, Misstress Barbara continues to perform internationally as a DJ, producer, singer-songwriter and label owner. Meganite was a techno party created by Italian DJ and producer Mauro Picotto and launched in 2004 at Privilege Ibiza. The project was conceived as a club night dedicated exclusively to techno music during a period when Ibiza was increasingly dominated by house, trance and commercial dance events. The first Ibiza season took place in 2004 at Privilege. Meganite was held at Privilege Ibiza from 2004 to 2009, running for six consecutive summer seasons. One of the defining characteristics of Meganite was its musical direction, which focused primarily on techno. Unlike many Ibiza parties that emphasized entertainment and large-scale performances, Meganite was primarily centred on music, sound quality and the clubbing experience. Although hosted in the world's largest nightclub, the event was designed to create a more intimate atmosphere by using only part of the venue. Privilege Ibiza, originally known as Ku Club, was one of the most iconic nightclubs in the history of electronic music and Ibiza's club culture. The venue began its history in the early 1970s as a restaurant and community swimming pool known as Club San Rafael. In 1979, it was transformed into Ku Club and in 1994, following legal changes requiring nightclubs to operate under a roof, the venue underwent a major renovation and was renamed Privilege Ibiza. The new structure enclosed the main dancefloor while preserving the club's distinctive scale, including its famous central swimming pool and its 25-metre-high ceiling. Recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's largest nightclub, Privilege has a capacity of approximately 10,000 people and covers more than 6,500 square metres. Its architecture, based around a huge hangar-like main room, became one of the venue's defining characteristics. Following licensing and operational difficulties, the club ceased regular activity after the 2019 season. The venue has since undergone extensive redevelopment and has been transformed into a new project, bringing to an end the historical era of Privilege Ibiza. This set is a pure expression of the techno music of those years. A super energetic set that doesn't allow you to take a break and, with its powerful rhythms, drives you on a fast journey through the techno music of the early 2000s. These sounds and atmospheres were typical of that period, when European techno and trance were extremely popular, and Meganite was one of the main references for this sound, together with many of the major festivals across Europe. for support my project: https://ko-fi.com/askseb https://liberapay.com/askSeb/ https://buymeacoffee.com/askseb Every contribution is reinvested into the archive.
