Fly Fishing with a Swivel Rig: Does it work? | Cache la Poudre

Sometimes trying a new technique really pays off, sometimes it doesn’t. In this episode of Days on the Water we tried a new technique on some water we have fished before. We used swivels to attach our multi-fly rig. This rig has become popular online so I wanted to give it a shot. Unfortunately it didn’t go as planned. The fishing was hard and the presentations were lacking. I finally switched back to tying to the bend of the hook of each fly and suddenly the fishing turned on. This is what it’s all about. Trying something new can sometimes build new habits and routines to catch fish and sometimes it builds confidence in a way you fish already. No matter what it’s always worth it! 🎣 Tactics: Streamers 📍 Location: Cache la Poudre River — Fort Collins, CO 🐟 Species: Brown/ Rainbow Trout Flying Trout is a fly fishing brand built on storytelling, real days on the water, and the honest truth about what it takes to catch fish.
