CN Autorack Train runs the Lake Orion Branch from Orion Yard in Auburn Hills & Pontiac MI

On the evening of July 22nd, 2026, a few friends and I would make our way out to the tracks on the Lake Orion Branch, a branch line that stretches roughly 6-8 miles off of the main Holly Sub. After getting word that L513 was coupling up to the power that L515 uses, it seemed pretty obvious that they would be making a run to Eames Yard in Orion Township to pick up some autoracks. Sure enough a bit after 7:30 pm, the 2 lite power locomotives made their way Joslyn and Brown Roads heading to Orion. I would then watch them work around Silver Bell Road and then eventually catch the train with 40 autoracks heading back. They also made a quick stop at the Ferrous Processing and Trading Co where they ended up picking up 8 gondolas to bring back to Pontiac as well. This goes down as one of the best catches I've ever had, I have dreamt of catching a train on this part of the Lake Orion Branch for a very long time (especially at Joslyn and Brown Roads) and I'm very happy to be able to share this video with all of you. And next time I go out, I want to complete my dream of also catching a train at Great Lakes Crossing Drive too. Enjoy the video!
