Beignet and Boudreaux Bear

Beignet and Boudreaux Bear are two-month-old Louisiana Black Bears. They were rescued from a flooded den and arrived at Appalachian Bear Rescue on March 1, 2019. They’re currently residing in The Cub Nursery until they’re big enough to move to The Cub House. After that, they’ll be in a Wild Enclosure until they’re ready to return to Louisiana for release back to the wild. The cubs are growing quickly, and will soon be weaned from bottle-feeding to eating from a bowl. They’re still a little wobbly, but getting the hang of walking in a more-or-less straight line. Please follow their story on our Facebook page. We post updates on our resident bears twice daily, morning and evening. It is a rehabilitation center for orphaned and injured black bear cubs, two years of age or younger, with the goal to release them back to the wild as soon as possible.
