I filmed trains arriving at & departing from the local line platforms at Nagano Station, which serves the JR Shin-etsu Line and the Shinano Railway. Located in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, Nagano Station is the prefecture's largest terminal station, serving four lines operated by three companies: the JR East Shin-etsu Line and Hokuriku Shinkansen, the Shinano Railway Kita-Shinano Line, and the Nagano Electric Railway Nagano Line. While only two lines—the Shin-etsu Line and the Kita-Shinano Line—officially serve the JR and Shinano Railway local line platforms, the station also accommodates trains from the JR Iiyama Line (originating at Toyono Station) via the Kita-Shinano Line, as well as trains from the JR Shinonoi Line and the Shinano Railway Line (both terminating at Shinonoi Station) via the Shin-etsu Line. The local line section is a ground-level station featuring three platforms and five tracks, with platform numbers ranging from 2 to 7. Platform 1 once existed but was discontinued during the 2000 timetable revision; the area is now used as a bicycle parking lot. Platforms 3 and 4 share the same physical platform, but it is split in two by a buffer stop installed in the middle. Trains on the Kita-Shinano Line use platforms 2, 5, and 7, while Iiyama Line trains use platform 4; JR Shin-etsu Main Line trains operate from platforms 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7. All "Shinano" limited express trains depart from platform 6.
