Beyond Copenhagen: Walking & Cycling Success Stories Worldwide

How can cities encourage more people to walk and cycle — and to do so in safety? In this mini-symposium, we highlight success stories from cities around the world, looking beyond the well-known models of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The Mini-Symposium Series, presented by the UCLA Institute of Transportation Studies, offers a deep dive into pressing issues facing transportation planners and policymakers. Each symposium begins with a session featuring speakers who are academic researchers, government practitioners, and community activists. The second session provides participants with the chance to engage in facilitated discussion, exploring how the shared insights can be applied to their work.
