With its soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture and perfect balance of sweetness, this recipe is a must-try. *Ingredients List* *For the Syrup:* 3 cups sugar 3 cups water Juice of 1 lemon slice *For the Dough:* 200 g softened butter (at room temperature) 1 whole egg + 1 egg yolk (save the egg white for coating) ½ tea glass powdered sugar ½ tea glass vegetable oil 2 tbsp semolina 1 packet vanilla 1 packet baking powder 4 cups flour (add gradually) 1 tea glass coarsely ground walnuts (optional: hazelnuts or pistachios) *For Coating:* 1 tea glass egg white 1 tea glass roasted shredded kadayıf Ground pistachios (for serving) *Written Recipe* 1. For the syrup, combine sugar and water in a saucepan, add lemon juice, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, simmer on low heat for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool. 2. For the dough, place butter in a mixing bowl. Add the egg, egg yolk, powdered sugar, vegetable oil, semolina, and vanilla. Mix well. 3. Add 2 cups of flour first, then mix in the baking powder. Gradually add the remaining flour while kneading until you get a soft, non-sticky dough. 4. Incorporate the coarsely ground walnuts into the dough and knead again. 5. Take small pieces of dough and roll them into a cylinder shape on the countertop. Gently press with your fingers to shape them, then cut into 2-finger-wide pieces. 6. Dip each piece first in egg white, then coat with roasted shredded kadayıf, and place them on a greased baking dish. 7. Bake in a preheated oven at 175-180°C (347-356°F) for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. 8. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes before pouring the cold syrup over the hot dessert. 9. Let the dessert absorb the syrup for 2-3 hours. Garnish with ground pistachios and serve. **Tips ** Let the syrup simmer for exactly 15 minutes to get the perfect consistency. The dough should be soft but not sticky. Avoid adding too much flour. Instead of kadayıf, you can use shredded coconut or finely chopped nuts. For the best texture, pour cold syrup over the hot dessert.
