Authentic Ugandan Katogo / Village Ladies Cook Groundnut & Irish Potato Katogo for the Family
🌿Welcome to another beautiful day in our African village !❤️ 🌿Today,Aunty Sharifah,Maama Marvin, and the kids prepared one of Uganda’s most loved traditional dishes— Katogo, a delicious combination of Irish potatoes cooked in rich homemade groundnut sauce. Our day began with a visit to the local trading center, where we bought Irish Potatoes , groundnut paste, fresh vegetables, and ingredients, along with cinnamon and fresh ginger for our traditional herbal tea. On the way back, we stopped at a small shop to buy drinking water for little Kallo, who was feeling very thirsty. Back home, everyone got busy with the preparations. Maama Marvin peeled the Irish potatoes while Aunty Sharifah peeled the cooked yams left from the previous day for herself and children. She also prepared a simple tomato and avocado salad to enjoy alongside the meal. After lighting the cooking fire, Maama Marvin fried the Irish potatoes with onions, tomatoes plus little curry powder. Meanwhile, Aunty Sharifah prepared the groundnut sauce using a traditional method by mixing the groundnut paste with tomatoes and water inside a small polythene bag and gently pressing it until it became smooth, thick, and released its natural oils, creating a rich and flavorful sauce. Once the potatoes were nearly ready, the thick groundnut mixture was added ,transforming everything into a delicious Katogo. After simmering for about 20-25 minutes, the meal was perfectly cooked. As the Katogo finished cooking,Maama Marvin prepared traditional ginger and cinnamon tea by boiling fresh crushed ginger and cinnamon to extract their wonderful aroma and natural goodness. Aunty Sharifah sliced fresh avocados to complete the meal. Finally, the Katogo , herbal tea,and fresh avocados were served to the family. The children enjoyed every bite and happily sipped their tea together, bringing another joyful village day to a perfect ending. ✨What Image Does the Video Portray . .
