Singer Patricia Kelly is a celebrated star; with the "Kelly Family," she sold around 20 million records. Now, for stern TV, the 48-year-old is pushing herself to the limit: She's spending two days volunteering as a pediatric nurse at the Essen University Hospital. But it's not just the stress and early mornings that are taking their toll on Patricia Kelly – the fates of the young patients are particularly close to her heart. On the pediatric oncology ward, she experiences hope and grief – and realizes how much the other nurses suffer under the immense emotional strain and yet still have to keep going. "You're not a machine, that really gets to me," says Patricia Kelly, who herself battled breast cancer a few years ago.
