I always read the "and God rested" on the seventh day automatically, until I came across that verse in Isaiah that says in black and white that God never tires. Then I was stuck: what was He resting from then? I started digging, and it dawned on me: the word we translate as "rested" doesn't speak of fatigue at all. It speaks of a halt, of settling, of taking possession.
