I always read this parable thinking the moral was simple: don't sleep, stay awake. Then, rereading Matthew 25, I got stuck on verse 5, where it says ALL ten fell asleep. The wise ones snored just like the rest. I thought: if the mistake had been sleep, all ten would have been lost, but only half remained.
