MUNI Metro Central Subway San Francisco T Line Driver's View Chinatown to 4th & King

Scenes from the new Central Subway of San Francisco's MUNI metro, and the drivers view of the southbound T service from Chinatown to 4th & King. The Central Subway was a long planned extension to the network to help alleviate traffic and divert passengers off Trolleybus routes 30 & 45 which pass through the Stockton Street tunnel towards Chinatown and the North Beach area of the city. It also gives a faster connection from the Caltrain station at 4th & King to Market street, with the T service diverted onto the new line. Previously this route took the long way via Embarcadero to the existing tunnels which was already being served by other routes. The line opened in late November 2022. There are plans to further extend the line further north.
