A massive wall of ivy spilled out over the walkway, hanging low enough that you’d smack your head if you weren’t paying attention. The lawn looked like it hadn’t seen a mower in years, and when I got closer, I realized I couldn’t even spot the front door. It was completely swallowed up by a jungle of bushes and trees. I knocked, but no one answered. Curious, I went next door and asked the neighbor what was going on. He told me the place had been abandoned for over a decade—and that he’d even injured himself once, brushing against the wild rose thorns creeping down the side path. It was clear this property wasn’t just an eyesore; it was a genuine hazard. That’s when I figured, you know what, I’ll just jump in and clean it up myself. I wanted to make it safer, stop people from squatting here, and just give the street a bit of its pride back.
