Bell Ringing at St Chad's Cathedral, Birmingham, West Midlands

The first tower of the YCRA Outing to Birmingham. St Chads Cathedral also known as the Roman Catholic Cathedral have a ring of eight bells cast by John Taylor and Co in 1939. They are hung in the left hand tower and bells 3,4,5 are hung on top. In the ringing chamber the sound is very unbalanced with the tenors drowning out the front bells. There was also lots of good ringing which I didn't record but this was most of the footage I got. The bells are very difficult to handle as the tower is not suitable for a ring of 15cwt. Consequently the bells drop and are very hard to strike to a good standard. Apologies for if the striking is clippy, we had a few inexperienced ringers in this touch. Overall, the bells are very lovely and rewarding outside.
