Instagram:   / mountourguide   Facebook:   / mountour-guide   About the route: During the hiking season, the summer trail is the fastest way to reach the Wallberg summit from the valley station of the Wallberg cable car without using any lifts. A wide forest road winds steeply and directly up the wooded northwest side, later rejoining the longer, but somewhat more interesting, winter trail that leads up via the Wallbergmoosalm. Soon after the two paths meet, the forest thins out. From the Wallberg saddle, which separates the Wallberg to the north from the Setzberg to the south, the ascent offers incredibly scenic views. We pass the Wallberg chapel and the Wallberg cable car's mountain station, remaining on the wide track until we reach the Hintermaueralm. At the alpine pasture, we leave the track behind, and the character of the hike changes dramatically in the final stretch. A rocky path leads us through gullies and over bare rock to the summit. Sure footing is essential for the last few meters of elevation gain. From the highest point, we enjoy not only the fantastic view down to Lake Tegernsee but also the panorama of the Bavarian Prealps, the Kaiser Mountains, the Rofan Mountains, and the Karwendel range. : ...
