Gigantischer Panorama-Höhenweg in Saas-Fee: Inmitten von 18 Viertausendern

A beautiful autumn hike between 18 four-thousand-meter peaks in Saas-Fee/Saas Valley: From Saas-Grund via Heimischgarte and the Gsponer Höhenweg to Kreuzboden, where we enjoy a breathtaking view of the Mischabel Group. Have you ever been to Saas-Fee? If so, how did you like it? Feel free to share your experiences and adventures in the comments! Click here for the hiking map with GPS track: https://www.outdooractive.com/de/rout... We start the day in the morning in picturesque Saas-Fee. It's one of my favorite Alpine resorts. I love how Saas-Fee is nestled between glaciers in this high alpine mountain world. Some of the highest mountains in the Alps rise up here. It's incredibly impressive. Furthermore, the resort itself is car-free and therefore very idyllic. Those who want to get to the hotel can either call an electric taxi or walk. Most houses are within easy walking distance. From Saas-Fee, we head to the starting point of the hike in Saas-Grund. You can also easily get there by bus. We start the tour at the valley station of the Kreuzboden cable car. Around 1,000 meters of elevation gain and just under 10 km lie ahead of us. We hike up a narrow path to the Heimischgarte Chapel. Along the way, we pass numerous rustic alpine settlements. The wooden houses, which are a few years old, are typical of the area and feel so peaceful and cozy. Here's a holiday cottage—I could imagine that, too. Young calves and donkeys graze nearby. It's a very special mountain idyll, especially since we're almost alone here at this time of year. Although we saw a few more vacationers in Saas-Fee, most of them already had their ski equipment under their arms and were heading up towards the glacier. There are significantly fewer hikers around these days. We treat ourselves to a short break at the chapel. The view keeps getting better and better. We can now see the Mischabel Group quite clearly. It's incredible how far the glaciers extend. We cross a stream and then climb steeply for a few more meters. We're really working up a sweat here. And it's already mid-October. It doesn't feel like it right now. Instead, I wish I were wearing shorts, if I could. After the tough climb, we reach the Gsponer Höhenweg (High Trail). Most of the elevation gain is now behind us, and the path continues on a more flat path. However, it's still a few meters to the destination. With gentle uphill and downhill sections, we wind our way along the mountainside at a constant altitude. The views are fantastic. And up here, autumn has already left its mark. We find splashes of color in the landscape. Here are a few red leaves, then patches of yellow grass. Beautiful! Paired with the snow-white contrast in the background, it's a very special atmosphere up here. We balance seemingly endlessly across a vast scree field. A bit of surefootedness is required here, as some of the stones are loose and wobble when you step on them. At the same time, your sense of balance is trained as you hop from stone to stone. And finally, we reach the viewpoint above Kreuzboden. The panorama is fantastic. On the other side, more glaciers appear. This gives us a view of the Lagginhorn and the Weissmies. On the other side, we now have a complete view of the Mischabel Group. Here, for example, the Allalinhorn rises clearly. It's an easy four-thousand-meter peak. You can reach an altitude of 3,500 meters by cable car. Next to it, we can see the Alphubel, the Täschhorn, and even the Dom. The Dom is the highest mountain in Switzerland that stands entirely on Swiss soil. Amazing! We take the cable car back down to the valley. And after a quick freshen-up, I'm looking forward to something delicious to eat. I've been craving cheese fondue all day. So we stop at the Vieux Chalet and order the fondue party. This way we can try three different types of fondue at once. We choose garlic, truffle, and classic cheese fondue. And all three are delicious.
