#lamecedora #ignaciosarmiento #Ifni In November 1957, the Ifni War broke out. Spain was under attack by the so-called Moroccan Liberation Army, supported by the newly independent Morocco. For three months, the Spanish army had to hold off rebel groups seeking to seize control of the territory. After the initial enemy attack, a series of operations took place to liberate the besieged inland outposts and regain the initiative. These operations were carried out by Lieutenant Ortíz de Zárate's Section for the liberation of Telata, along with Operations "Pañuelo," "Netol," and "Gento." After this first phase of relief operations at the outposts was completed and more reinforcements arrived, a series of operations called "Diana," "Pegaso," and "Siroco" took place. These operations were aimed at defending and clearing the territory of gangs and consolidating a defensive perimeter of approximately six kilometers around the capital, Sidi Ifni, which would remain in place until 1969. https://www.lamecedoradigital.com/ / ...
