Ocean Report #046 | Hirizo Beach, 2026 Season Finally Begins! I went snorkeling on the first weekend of the season, so here's a quick report of what it's like! This is truly one of the best snorkeling spots in Izu, and one of the best on the mainland! The vivid blue schools of damselfish were a beautiful reward for the long drive late at night. However, the current water temperature is still a bit low at 23 degrees Celsius. The seasonal migratory fish from southern regions seem to still be "preparing." This time, I'll be discussing not only the wide schools of fish but also the deep macro life observations, and I'll be giving a thorough explanation of "real-world precautions" that anyone planning to go should definitely know (toilet situation, parking, rocky beach, driving late at night, etc.). Finally, I've included some traffic advice based on my own bitter experience (my car was totaled after colliding with a deer late at night in Izu in August 2024), so if you're planning to tackle this season early, please read to the end for helpful information!
