5 Claves para la Innovación Turística: Gema Garrido at TEDxMarbella

Gema Garrido is an Online Marketing and Tourism Innovation Consultant, a member of the Scientific Committee of the SEO/SEM Symposium Malaga, and an entrepreneur. In this talk, she shares her enduring dream that Andalusia (the Spanish region where she is from, lives, and works) can one day be at the forefront of innovation and technological and tourism development. She explains why her idea is possible and hopes to make it a reality. About Gema Garrido: She has been working in the tourism sector for 16 years. She holds a degree in Business Administration and studied English at the University of Georgia (USA). She is a lifelong learner and is currently pursuing a doctorate at the University of Malaga, taking courses, and participating in national and international conferences. For over 12 years, she was fortunate enough to work in various departments of the Andalusian Regional Government's Ministry of Tourism, including the Ministry's General Directorate of Tourism Planning, the Tourist Services Telematics Office, the International Tourism Center, and the Innovation Department of Andalusian Tourism. She played a key role in coordinating the Andalusia Meetings Tourism program, the Hotel Competitiveness Improvement Plan, the European IRENE project, and, most notably, the implementation of the Andalusia brand's e-marketing area. In 2007, she moved to the private sector, becoming the Communications and Marketing Manager for the Fuerte Hoteles hotel chain. She later embarked on her own entrepreneurial ventures. At Felix de Warner, her approach was based on: Product Creation + Sales Representation + Tour Operation + Marketing and Communications + Innovation. At Factor Ocio: The first tour operator specializing in rural and nature tourism. At Redsa: where I led the launch of the www.saludcoe.com community portal for the Spanish Olympic Committee, alongside an exceptional team. Currently, I am immersed in a personal project, Tenturismo: a blog that began in 2010 with the aim of providing useful and selective material that gives professionals something to think about. It has evolved into a 360-degree consultancy and is allowing me, in addition to advising companies on online marketing and strategy, to get involved in both training and entrepreneurship projects. -- In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
