Built on a solid defensive foundation, Ranieri's Leicester system was predicated on forming a narrow two banks of four and maintaining a robust system and shape - and then breaking out with the pace of Mahrez and Vardy in order to hurt teams on the counter after winning the ball back. Desite the success of the system, it's worth noting that the tactic was heavily dependent on three players to out-perform themselves in Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante.
