With extensive experience managing top-level sports teams, Sergio Scariolo reflects in this talk on two aspects he considers fundamental to effective leadership: leading by example and listening. Sergio Scariolo, an international basketball player and later a coach, holds a law degree and is the President of the “Cesare Scariolo Foundation,” a non-profit organization that supports children with leukemia and their families. He is currently the head coach of the Spanish men's national basketball team. He has received numerous awards for his personal and professional achievements: Coach of the Year, Italy (1994), Coach of the Year, Spain (2000), Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana, Italy (2009), Ambassador of Marbella to the World (2010), and the Gold Medal for Sporting Merit, Spain (2015). His sporting record is extensive, with particular highlights including his achievements with the Spanish Men's National Basketball Team: European Champions – EuroBasket 2009, Poland; European Champions – EuroBasket 2011, Lithuania; Silver Medal – London 2012 Olympic Games; European Champions – EuroBasket 2015, France; Bronze Medal – Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.
