Grandiose Bergtour im Allgäu: Rubihorn (1.957 m) in Oberstdorf via Gaisalpsee

I'm curious to hear about the tours you recommend. We set off from the Explorer Hotel near Oberstdorf by car to Reichenbach. There's a hiking parking lot there. When we arrive, it's already quite full. Luckily, we're still quite early and manage to get a spot. We lace up our shoes and then we set off. Instead of taking the road, we ascend the Tobelweg trail toward Gaisalpe. The trail follows a narrow path along the water. Occasionally, we cross bridges and walkways, past waterfalls, and continue upwards. The trail is a bit slippery when wet, but more scenic than the moderately ascending paved road that runs around the outside. From Gaisalpe, the route becomes steeper. A path winds its way uphill through the forest in switchbacks. Step by step, we approach Lake Gaisalpsee. It lies wonderfully idyllically against an impressive mountain backdrop. It's worth stopping a few meters before the lake. There you can also see a waterfall thundering down a steep cliff edge. At the mountain lake itself, we take a short break and drink a sip of water. I dip my finger in the cool water in front of me. It's wonderfully refreshing. Later, there should even be people swimming in the lake, but by mid-morning, only a few groups are sitting on the shore. There are still almost 400 meters of elevation ahead of us. It gets steeper again. The ground is rocky, and surefootedness is required when walking over the gravel. A glance up also shows that we won't be alone at the summit. Several people have taken advantage of the good weather. A few hikers even know one or two videos of us. Johannes also complimented me on the Zugspitze video and also chose the Rubihorn as his destination. I'm always happy when you talk to me when we meet. Shortly before the summit, we come to a fork in the path. If we kept left, we would come to the Seealpe on the Nebelhorn. From there, we could also take the cable car up the first few meters. However, the cable car is currently out of service and is being renovated. You won't be able to take the cable car up to the Nebelhorn again until Easter 2021. We turn right and continue climbing above the rooftops of Oberstdorf. A head for heights is required on some of this hike, as some sections are exposed. However, wire ropes and footrests ensure a comfortable ascent. Finally, we reach the summit, look towards Sonthofen and Grünten, see the ski mountains Hoher Ifen and Kanzelwand, and can see the Hochvogel over the Mittagsspitze. The latter is also known as the Matterhorn of the Allgäu Alps. A peak with a mountain station can also be seen there.
