For a few days each year, the streets fill with giant handmade masks, loud music, dancing, parades, and thousands of people celebrating together. What started as a quiet trip to a small town in northeastern Thailand turned into one of the most colorful and unforgettable festivals I've ever experienced. Locals celebrate Phi Ta Khon to make merit, preserve their traditions, and pray for good fortune, prosperity, and a successful year ahead. One of the things I love most about Thailand is how people aren't afraid to be playful, creative, and completely themselves.
