THAILAND’S GHOST FESTIVAL MOMENTS 2026

Phi Ta Khon Festival in Loei had been on my bucket list for years, and this year I finally made it. What surprised me most wasn't just the colorful masks, the costumes, or the lively parade. It was the people. Locals, travelers, different nationalities, different backgrounds, and people of all identities came together to celebrate. Once the masks were on, everyone seemed equal. Strangers smiled, danced, laughed, and shared the experience together. For a few days, it felt like barriers disappeared and the whole town became one big celebration. The atmosphere reminded me of Thailand's Songkran Festival, where people connect through joy, kindness, and shared moments. Phi Ta Khon is more than a festival of spirits and folklore — it's a celebration of community, culture, and happiness.
