Ragazze e ragazzi migranti. Storie di viaggi e paure | Fosca Nomis | TEDxSSC
=== English Follows === Every year, thousands of unaccompanied minors arrive in Italy, having experienced the traumatic experience of abandoning their homeland and their families, and a dramatic journey by sea. Our task is not only to address the difficult challenge of integration, but also to attempt to restore their right to be children. Fosca Nomis has collaborated and continues to collaborate with organizations such as Expo Milano, Amnesty International, Save the Children, and Wiki Italia, always placing women's rights, children's rights, and international relations at the center of her professional life. --- ENG Every year, thousands of unaccompanied minors arrive in Italy, having experienced the traumatic experience of abandoning their countries and families, and a dramatic journey by sea. Our task is not only to address the difficult challenge of integration, but also to attempt to restore their right to be children. Fosca Nomis collaborates with organizations such as Expo Milano, Amnesty International, Save the Children, and Wiki Italia. Always at the center of her professional life are the rights of women and children, and international relations. This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) Expo Milan, Amnesty International, Save the Children, Wiki Italia, these are some of the events and associations with which Fosca Nomis has collaborated and still collaborates. The common denominator is the social, the Third Sector, humanity as such. Her work aims to make the world we live in more gender-friendly. "The key word is reciprocity, in the sense that accessibility improves the enjoyment of a space or event for everyone"—we're talking about disabilities, as with Expo where she was disability manager, but also women and children. "No more violence against women" is one of the campaigns she spoke for, and also poverty, the protection of migrant children, and child abuse. "Poverty has many different facets and therefore brings different consequences within families." Fosca is concerned with precisely this—with nuances, facets, and differences—not eliminating or destroying them, but only making them more livable, dignified, and humane. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
