Futa is unmistakably the latter. Interestingly, even within the same family—such as Nu-nu’s sons—these facial types can vary widely. Watching Futa wiggle and squirm on Mi’s lap is a precious sight unique to this early stage of life. In just two months, he will be running around and climbing small branches with ease. For mother macaques, the most demanding period of childcare is the first month, especially the first two weeks. Once that stage is overcome, the burden decreases dramatically.
