ホタル君がまだ0才だった夏。今では2才になり、気性の荒い一面も見せるようになった彼ですが、この頃のホタル君には、そんな兆しはまったくありませんでした。ヌーヌの5番目の子として生まれ、姉の小夏、兄のコダマ君とともに「タレ目三姉弟」として人気を集める存在。兄姉がどちらかといえばマイペースな性格であるのに対し、ホタル君は社交的で、物怖じせず、いろんな場所に顔を出すタイプでした。 当時は「お坊ちゃまキャラ」でいけると思っていたほど大人しく見えたホタル君。しかし成長した現在は、みたらし君と同じく怒られることも多く、ヤンチャな気質が前面に出ています。兄姉とは性質が大きく異なり、その違いを親類のヨロコンデも感じているようで、コダマ君には優しいのに、ホタル君にはよく怒るという対照的な態度を見せています。 それでもホタル君には、面倒見の良い一面があります。特にドリー君の遊び相手をよく務め、鬼ごっこやレスリングでは相手に合わせて手加減する優しさも持ち合わせています。兄弟だからといって性格が似るとは限らず、おはぎ・みたらし兄弟のように全く違う個性が生まれるのも、群れの魅力のひとつです。 一方、ライバルのみたらし君はお兄ちゃんになり、予想外のイクメンぶりを発揮しています。ではホタル君はどうなるのか。ヌーヌのお腹が少しふっくらして見える今、再びタレ目っ子が誕生するのか、ヌーヌの連続記録が更新されるのか、期待は膨らみます。もっとも、元気な赤ちゃんなら性別も顔つきもどちらでも良いのですが、つい願いを込めてしまうものです。 In this episode, we look back at Hotaru-kun during the summer of his infancy—when he was still zero years old. Today, he is already two, full of energy, and showing a fiery temperament that often gets him scolded, much like his rival Mitarashi-kun. But during that early summer, none of those signs were visible. At that time, Hotaru-kun appeared gentle, calm, and even somewhat refined—so much so that he was once imagined as a “little prince” type. Looking back now, that impression feels almost comically misleading. Hotaru-kun is the fifth child of Nunu, and part of the beloved “Droopy-Eyed Trio” alongside his older sister Konatsu and older brother Kodama-kun. While both Konatsu and Kodama tend to be relaxed and easygoing like their mother, Hotaru-kun stands out as the most sociable and bold among the siblings. Even as a baby, he showed no hesitation in exploring different areas of the troop and interacting with various individuals. His confidence and curiosity made him a noticeable presence from an early age. As he grew older, however, a different side of his personality began to emerge. Now at two years old, Hotaru-kun is spirited, quick to react, and sometimes quite hot-tempered. His personality diverges significantly from his siblings, and even Yoro-Konde—who is usually gentle with Kodama—often scolds Hotaru-kun. It is as if Yoro-Konde senses something unique, or perhaps mischievous, in him. Yet Hotaru-kun is not simply wild or impulsive. He also has a warm, caring side, especially toward younger troop members. He frequently plays with Dori-kun, adjusting his strength during wrestling or tag so that the younger child can enjoy the game safely. This balance of boldness and kindness hints at a future role as a reliable older brother figure—someone who may be rambunctious, but also deeply considerate. The diversity of personalities within the troop is part of what makes observing them so fascinating. Even siblings can be completely different, just like Ohagi and Mitarashi, who share little resemblance in temperament. Hotaru-kun’s individuality adds another layer to the rich tapestry of family dynamics. Meanwhile, Mitarashi-kun has recently become an older brother—and surprisingly, he has turned out to be a very attentive and gentle one. This unexpected development raises the question: what kind of big brother will Hotaru-kun become? Nunu’s belly appears slightly rounded, suggesting the possibility of another baby on the way. If so, will the new infant continue the “droopy-eye streak” that Nunu and Yoro-Konde once held for three consecutive births? That record was broken with Dori-kun, and if Nunu cannot achieve it again, it may remain unmatched forever. Of course, whether the next baby has droopy eyes or not is ultimately unimportant. A healthy birth is what truly matters. Still, it is hard not to feel a little excited imagining what kind of face the next child might have, and how Hotaru-kun will respond to becoming an older brother.
