Malga Campegno, un Gioiello restituito alla Lessinia

"Dad and I always drove past it. It was our dream, and it's finally coming true." Laura sighs. She thinks back to all the times she's looked at that beautiful mountain hut before San Giorgio di Bosco Chiesanuova, all stone, walls and roof, with characteristic arches reminiscent of a sort of rural Gothic style. A mountain hut, Malga Campegno, used for summer grazing and for making cheese. Five years ago, the Brunellis, a historic family from Velo Veronese, took it over from the previous owners and decided to turn it into a place where people could appreciate Lessinia for all its most significant aspects: the flavors, the natural beauty, the unmistakable architecture, and so on. Today, Malga Campegno has transformed it into a wonderful place, where all these aspects come together in a fantastic way. As soon as you enter, you immediately sense the history of this place, which once had a strong pastoral vocation and now finds in tourism a means to continue surviving. Yes, because one of the stated goals is to continue to be a farm, serving the products of their own farm (located a few kilometers away) and others in the area. This means acquiring the resources necessary to maintain the landscape, ensuring that the area remains welcoming, open to agricultural activities but also to tourism. A virtuous cycle, in short, that starts from tradition, of which this restoration is certainly a part. And if you're passing by, stop by the Merenderia, a place set in the old dairy where the Brunellis serve sandwiches, snacks, desserts, and much more, reminiscent of the snacks grandmothers once brought to the men working in the fields and woods.
