Use of prepositions is very important because often mistakes are made in the use of prepositions and this compromises the quality of English being used in spoken and written communication. This video defines and explains the manner in which prepositions are used and how to learn to use them correctly. First there are prepositions which are determined by the noun which they join to a sentence—if these nouns denote time, place or positions then there are fixed prepositions to be used. For all other types of nouns, the words in front determine the prepositions. All these rules and adequate examples are given in the video for learners to hear and practice repeatedly to avoid making mistakes in the use of prepositions.
