The Charlatans – Sproston Green (Live) | First Time Reaction | That ORGAN Was Incredible!
Today I'm reacting to The Charlatans – "Sproston Green" (Live at Brixton Academy) for the very first time! This was another Super Thanks request from @isthatthetimealready. Thank you so much for your continued support of the channel! This performance absolutely blew me away. To me, this wasn't really a song that was all about the lyrics—it was about the groove, the energy, and the musicianship. It felt more like an incredible live jam that just kept building until it exploded at the end. The standout for me was keyboardist Tony Rogers. His Hammond organ playing absolutely stole the show and took this performance to another level. (If you're watching an older performance from the early '90s, the original keyboardist was Rob Collins, whose Hammond organ was a defining part of the band's sound. The 1997 Brixton performance features Tony Rogers, who stepped in after Rob's passing.) I also loved how raw this performance felt. It actually sounded like the tempo sped up a little once the band really got rolling. Whether that was intentional or just the excitement of playing live, I loved it. That's rock and roll! It reminded me that these guys weren't locked to a click track—they were simply feeding off each other's energy. By the end, when they settled into that extended jam, I couldn't stop smiling. Every member of the band was locked in, and they closed the set with a ton of confidence and power. This one gets two big thumbs up from me and will absolutely be going onto my Bonchester Playlist. I'm curious to hear the studio version now, but honestly, I don't know how it could top this live performance. Huge thanks again to @isthatthetimealready for another fantastic Super Thanks request!
