Salmon Fishing on the Columbia River | Davis Bar - Caterpillar Island April 18

Early morning run from my floating home out to Davis Bar on the final day the Columbia River was open for salmon fishing this season. I fired up my original song “Chasing the Bite” on the drive and hit the water with the fleet! Trolled hard around the barges with a ton of other boats — everyone was super friendly and even joking about netting each other’s fish if needed. I break down my setup: cut plug herring with a Chartreuse Leo flasher and the Short Bus Hallucinator triangle flasher, plus what I noticed on the underwater camera about swivels and chains. Ran from high tide to low tide on the Columbia, passed the hog-line anchor guys and got bite reports, but it was a tough bite. Moved into the Willamette River to the head of the channel and into the Multnomah Channel where I was marking tons of fish but couldn’t get them to commit… until a little smolt decided to jump on! A full day on the water chasing the bite right to the very last legal day. Tight lines and thanks for watching! 🎵 Original song: “Chasing the Bite” – written by me & performed by Randy Burgess 👍 Like if you’ve ever had one of those tough-but-fun skunk days 🔔 Subscribe for more Columbia River & Willamette fishing adventures! #SalmonFishing #ColumbiaRiver #Trolling #WillametteRiver #DavisBar #OregonFishing
