Speaker: Dr. José Siri. Senior Science Lead for Cities, Urbanization and Health at The Wellcome Trust’s Our Planet Our Health Programme Presentation: “Climate change, cities, and health: advancing solutions through systems-based research” Date: July 16, 2021 Dr. José Siri helps manage the Wellcome Trust’s portfolio of urban research and works to build strategic engagement to advance the field of planetary health. Previously, he was a research fellow at the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health in Kuala Lumpur, where he led research, policy and capacity-building efforts in urban health, and was a co-investigator for Salud Urbana en América Latina, a Wellcome-funded project to improve urban health across Latin America. Dr. Siri received a BS in ecology and systematics from Cornell University and an MPH and PhD in epidemiology from the University of Michigan. He completed his postdoctoral studies at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria. His expertise bridges urban and planetary health, climate change, systems thinking, sustainable development, infectious disease, malaria control, and urban studies. ### The Yale Center on Climate Change and Health utilizes research, education, and public health practice to help safeguard the health of human populations from adverse impacts of climate change and human activities that cause climate change.
