Residential Neighborhoods of Spokane, Washington: A Walking Tour
In this video, I take a walk through some residential neighborhoods in Spokane, Washington. I'll walk through a middle-class area, a lower-middle-class area, and a slightly nicer area. While I walk, I'll talk about the cost of living in Spokane, history, my experience living in Spokane, crime, safety, and more. Spokane is a pretty pleasant city. There are lots of nice middle-class areas full of single-family homes. The city also has lots of beautiful city parks and green spaces. It's also a reasonably affordable place to live. The cost of living in Spokane is almost the same as the national average and about 30% lower than in Seattle. Housing is 11% below the national average. The median cost of a house here is $425,000. You can rent a decent apartment for around $1100-$1300. In lower end areas, houses go for around $250,000-$300,000. In the most expensive parts of the city, houses cost around $800,000-$1,000,000. There aren't really any extremely high-end neighborhoods in Spokane. Spokane also has quite a bit of history. Some of the homes we'll walk past are over 100 years old. There is some interesting architecture here. One drawback of living in Spokane is that the city has a fairly high crime rate. Particularly for a city of its size. Most crime is property crime, like theft and vandalism. You need to keep your doors locked here. Stuff will get stolen if you don't. Violent crime is pretty rare here. It is perfectly safe to wander around pretty much anywhere in the city. Even in lower end neighborhoods, it's fine to walk around. Some of the neighborhoods I walked around weren't very nice but they were safe. I have lived in Spokane for about 20 years of my life. I grew up here and went to school here. I moved away for about 11 years then came back about a year ago. Overall, it's a decent place to live. It's not the best place in the world but not terrible either. The locals love to complain about it but they tend to stick around. If you find this video helpful, please like and subscribe.
