Living in Spokane, WA | Cost of Living, Crime, Work, Weather, and Things To Do
In this video, I outline everything you need to know about living in Spokane, Washington. I'll cover the Cost of living, crime, weather, employment, things to do, and more. I've spent about 20 years of my life in Spokane. I grew up here and went to school here. I have family here. Spokane is a pretty decent city to live in. When I was a kid, I didn't much care for it. I've grown to appreciate it more as I've gotten older. I lived in Southern California for about 8 years and spent 3 years abroad. That made me realize that Spokane isn't all that bad. Timestamps: 0:00 Introduction 0:38 Cost of Living 1:31 Crime 2:52 Weather 3:58 Things to do 6:08 Employment 7:10 Education Spokane has a lot to offer. The cost of living is reasonably low. I would say it's a medium cost-of-living area. It's much more affordable than a high cost of living city like Seattle. You can buy a decent home here for $400,000 or rent an apartment for $1200. One significant drawback is that the crime rate is pretty high. Property crime is a problem. You have to lock your doors. Spokane has four seasons. It gets hot in the summer and it snows in the winter. There are quite a few things to do. Throughout the year, there are major events including Bloomsday (a 12K run), Hoopfest (a 3 on 3 basketball tournament), the Lilac Parade, Pig out in the Park (a food festival), and the county fair. There are also lots of lakes within an hour of the city where you can go boating or fishing. There are several ski resorts within 2 hours of the city. There are also several nice golf courses. The Spokane River runs right through the city. There are also plenty of green spaces. Spokane is great for people who enjoy spending time in the outdoors. When it comes to work, the largest sectors of employment are education, healthcare, and government. There are also quite a few service jobs. Salaries can be kind of low here. Spokane has a pretty good public school system. The graduation rate is about 90%. There are also a few universities in and around the city. #spokane #Washington #EasternWashington #Vlog #Spokanewa #InlandNorthwest
